Back to Ticket Sales

How do I set a limit on the number of tickets that can be sold?

With a ticket limit, you ensure that a maximum number of tickets for your event can be sold. When this limit is reached, ticket sales will automatically close. There are different ways to set a ticket limit.

General event ticket limit

A general ticket limit applies to all configured ticket types of the event, unless you have set a specific limit for a ticket type (see the next chapter).

When the number of tickets sold across all these ticket types reaches the limit, the ticket types will be marked as sold out.

Example: you have set an event ticket limit of 50. And you have created two ticket types: 'Early Bird' and 'Regular Bird'. When you have sold 10 Early Birds and 40 Regular Birds tickets, these ticket types will be marked as sold out.

Set a general ticket limit for your event.

Go to the dashboard and follow the steps
  1. Go to the relevant event
  2. Click on the 'Tickets' tab
  3. Click on the 'Change ticket limits' button
  4. In the 'Maximum number of tickets' field, you can set a limit.

When you create a new ticket type (via the 'Add Ticket' button), click on the checkbox 'Event limit' in the 'Maximum number of tickets' field.

Ticket limit per ticket type

Another way is to set a limit per ticket type. When the number of tickets sold for a specific ticket type reaches the limit, only this ticket type will be marked as sold out.

For example, if you have created a ticket type 'Early Bird', you can set a maximum of 10 to be sold for this type.

Note: By default, the number of tickets sold for a ticket type is counted towards your event limit. However, when creating a ticket, you can also choose to ignore the event limit. In this case, the tickets sold for this type will not be counted towards the event limit.
