The Courage of Unbecoming
A conscious dance and somatic experiencing workshop with Agne Diciute
January 29-31 st, 2027 in Amsterdam.
Most of us carry a picture of who we are that we didn't draw ourselves. It was handed to us — by family, culture, early experience — and we have been living inside it ever since, mistaking the frame for the self.
Perhaps the real journey is not about becoming more — but about carefully, courageously, layer by layer, unbecoming everything that was never truly ours.
Somewhere beneath the roles, the armor, the learned selves — something truer is waiting.
The path to authenticity leads through small inner deaths — the release of old identities, beliefs and protections. An alchemical process in which our being transforms: from foreign to our own. It asks for the courage to grieve what is familiar, and the openness to meet what has not yet been revealed. Like an old skin replaced by a new one — more sensitive, more alive, more fully in its own truth.
We will work with the nervous system as our guide. Through slowing down, tracking sensation and gently expanding the window of tolerance, we practice staying present with what is true — not pushing through, but widening, with care.
Using conscious dance, somatic experiencing and gestalt therapy as our tools for the journey, we will explore:
• Inherited patterns and introjects: how family, culture, religion and society shaped our sense of self
• The inner critic: dancing with pressure, blocks, and all those "I must" messages that limit self-expression
• Embodied beliefs: how learned patterns live in the body, and how liberated movement opens new possibilities
• The 5 Elements: working with Earth, Fire, Water, Air and Ether to melt away what no longer serves
Together we create a safe space for both slow and gentle exploration and for bold transformation. No previous experience necessary — only the willingness to move, explore and discover.

Agne Diciute (The Living Body) — conscious dance and movement facilitator, Gestalt psychotherapist and supervisor (EAGT), Somatic Experiencing™ practitioner, certified 5Rhythms Spaceholder.
Agne lives in Tuscany, Italy, working with people individually and facilitating groups across Europe.

☼ LOCATION:
Meneer de Wit, Baarsjesweg 202 in Amsterdam (make sure you are at the right housenumber as there is also another place called Meneer de Wit).
We dance barefoot, on socks or indoor shoes. There is no dressing room at the venue, you can change in the dancing area or on the toilets.
Tea and water are available at the venue. For lunch: there is a supermarket and there are several restaurants close by.

Friday 29th: 07.30 pm - 10.00 pm Friday deep dive dance, preparing the body, heart and mind for the workshop (also available as a ticket without the workshop)
Saturday 30th: 10.30 am to 05.30 pm workshop
Sunday 31st: 11.00 am to 05.00 pm workshop
