About this event

Natural movement meets stillness. Weaving elements of Tai Chi, Flow and Yin yoga into one easeful practice for all levels. Different styles, same softening. Learning to use only the energy you truly need, resting what you don't.

Strala Yoga, founded by Tara Stiles & Michael Taylor, is a natural movement practice that blends elements of Tai Chi and dance into one yoga flow. A way of yoga that doesn't fit into a box, nor fixates on your poses. There is nothing to nail, no need to hurry to join 'the pace of the class' - above and foremost it's a playground with lots of space to make movement feel like YOU. Using Tai Chi concepts like unweighting body parts, moving from your center, body-breath connection and movability, this part of the SOFTENING special lets you explore movement and your body in a lighthearted, embodied and freeing way.

When the body feels warmed up, open and soft, we will slow down and melt into a few longer-held Yin poses. They help the tissues of our body to deeply release and our awareness to settle & rest upon our somatic experience. A precious practice to come (back) home to yourself and all that is alive within you right now.

SOFTEN is an ode to your body - and to true strength. And an antidote to society's 'no pain no gain culture'. For when we learn to use only the energy that is truly needed (on and off the mat) we often get more done and in a sustainable way. This class is a permission slip to take your movement practice (and life) in a more easeful way. At your own rhythm, with a softened body and mind. Cause life often reminds us: When we meet force with force (rigidity, resistance, harshness), someone breaks. And it's usually us.
