Contact Improvisation Dance

In these series of four workshops we will practice contact improvisation dance. Contact improvisation is a form of dancing in which two or more dancers explore movement through touch, physical awareness and shared weight. By tuning into our embodied sense of awareness we will explore how we can bring ease and flow into dancing in contact. With the help of some movement phrases we endeavor to expand our movement vocabulary and remember pathways when dancing in contact. We will close the workshop with a jam, which is a free dancing space where we can apply what we have learned.

Practicalities:
- Arriving can be from 19.15 onwards, to make yourself comfortable in the space, and so we can start together on time.
- Wear comfortable clothes you can freely move in. Preferably long pants and long sleeves, we may sometimes roll over the floor and it may feel more comfortable in physical contact with other dancers.
- The sessions are open to people new to CI as well as for people with previous experience.
- The four sessions will have a build up as well as some repetition. It is possible to join only one or a few of the four sessions.

About Simone Jasmijn:
The past 8 years the practice of contact improvisation as well as capoeira, yoga, and an intensive contemporary danceLAB have been interwoven into my identity as a dance-and movement artist. Up until today I feel amazed and grateful for the diversity of knowledge shared by different CI teachers that I have met at workshops, festivals and classes in the Netherlands as well as in Italy, Israël and other places around the world. Some of the teachers I studied with are: Tom Goldhand, Alessandro Rivellino, Linda Bufali, Anjelika Doniy, Artem Markov, Christine Cole, Dolores Dewhurst-Marks and Sasha Dodo.
