About this event
About Falling
A contact improvisation intensive, researching falling as a starting point for a dance.
Saturday 27th of June from 12.00-18.00 with 1,5h break & potluck lunch
Falling, to me, is letting go of control. From there the true dance arises. In the moment we don't know what is going to happen and we don't have time to think: the body responds in its natural form. No thoughts, no prepared moves, just honest movement of a body catching itself.
In this workshop you will learn what it means to fall, to release your body and surrender to gravity. You will also learn how to catch yourself efficiently and safely and how to soften your body into the floor after a fall. Furthermore we will research different approaches to falling and how we can transform a fall into a fly. We will fall ‘together’ and we will play with falling and catching ourselves and each other's body. Going into lifts and possibly into jumping as well. It will be a very physical workshop, diving into our own body's possibilities as well as into the origins of Contact Improvisation.
This workshop is meant for both complete beginners as well as experienced dancers. It does not matter which level of experience you bring, this will be a challenging workshop for everybody on a different layer.
This event is a sliding scale event, in which you can choose to pay between 40-80 euro's, depending on your financial situation.
